If you love the outdoors, identify as an organized individual with positive energy to share, having good critical thinking and decision making skills, along with a willingness to take initiative, KSRA invites you to join our team of dynamic adventure therapy and outdoor youth healthcare providers!  This is a position open to a bachelor&;s level professional who will work among mental health clinicians doing amazing work with youth in DeKalb County. Responsibilities include overseeing and developing adventure activities, programming logistics, evaluating risk & risk management, coordinating supplies, and developing relationships in the community to drive referrals.

 

Core Competencies:

·                     Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a therapeutic recreation, mental health, parks/recreation/tourism, or outdoor education field.

·                     Preferred certification(s): Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS); Certified Therapeutic Adventure Specialist (CTAS)

·                     Experience conducting therapeutic adventure activities with youth.

·                     Experience working in a therapeutic setting.

·                     Comfortable working within a flexible schedule.

·                     Ability to plan, organize, execute, and evaluate group activities based on developmental age and treatment needs in coordination with the clinicians overseeing treatment.

·                     Confident in ability to provide orientation and training on therapeutic adventure activities for staff and interns.

·                     Competent with Google Workspace applications.

·                     Understanding of HIPAA and ethics regarding confidentiality.

·                     Ability to organize tasks independently and effectively, and manage time.

·                     Proficiency with a computer and basic software along with use of various social networks and AW website.

·                     Willingness to adopt, promote, and improve on AW’s mission and agency culture.

·                     Work through a multiculturally sensitive and trauma sensitive lens.

·                     Physically capable of performing adventure based activities unassisted or with reasonable accommodations.

·                     Strong team player that values and uplifts all members of the organization

·                     Collaborative leadership and co-facilitation

·                     Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·                     Organize the Adventure Works therapeutic groups calendar.

·                     Coordinate with clinicians and reception to identify and register youth appropriate for the offered groups.

·                     Coordinate weekly with the clinical staff to organize and facilitate adventure therapy supplies and plans.

·                     Facilitate intake screenings and YOQ questionnaires for groups; maintain a schedule for monitoring and updating outcomes.

·                     Complete documentation for group participants according to agency policy.

·                     Plan and develop therapeutic adventure groups in response to the needs of our community; expand the scope of Adventure Works’ group offerings accordingly.

·                     Manage gear inventory and train staff on use of gear and use of outdoors in programming.

·                     Support Adventure Works to maintain AEE accreditation.

·                     Oversee AW vehicle fleet and AW drivers, including training.

·                     Oversee safety and lead the Risk Management Committee.

·                     Networking with other community, regional, and national adventure programs to maintain best practices.

·                     Coordinate snacks and supplies for groups within the budget provided.

 

·                     Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
