My name is Lindsay Lowe and I am the Camp Manager and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at Cleveland Sight Center’s Highbrook Lodge. Highbrook Lodge is a summer residential camp for individuals living with low vision, blindness and dual/multiple disabilities outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Every summer we look for eager, dedicated staff to fill our small team.

I wanted to reach out to you, specifically, to let you know about possible opportunities for Therapeutic Recreation students. We still have several openings that may appeal to TR students including our and positions. The Nature Leader is responsible for the coordination of all nature-based programming. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating therapeutically-based nature programs that are appropriate to the age and ability level of the campers. In addition both the Nature Leader and the Cabin Leader are responsible for the immediate safety, care, and well being of 8-10 campers or 1-2 families assigned to them. Both positions lives in the cabins for the duration of the summer and are responsible for carrying out their specific duties as well as assisting in cabin life.

As a staff member the student would be exposed to therapeutic recreation principals including the use of assessments, program planning, implementation, evaluation and goal setting/tracking and progress notes.

A summer camp job is truly a rewarding experience for all young adults – and I feel our positions might be of interest to some of your students. If you could pass this information along to your Therapeutic Recreation students I’d greatly appreciate it. We are currently accepting applications through our website

Thank you in advance!
