Looking for May graduates who might be interested in an entry level position within a Special Recreation Association.  Currently there is an open position for an Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Recreation Specialist Position who would also oversee the entire Special Olympics programming.  Below is the job posting and can also be found on-line on the website . Maine - Niles Association of Special Recreation is an extension of six member Park Districts and one local Village. AWID (Adults with Intellectual Disabilities) / Special Olympics Liaison - Recreation Specialist - Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.  Must demonstrate the ability to develop, coordinate, lead, and evaluate a variety of recreational activities for individuals with special needs.  Direct leadership of programs including: Special Olympics, adaptive sports, overnight trips, fitness programs, after-school programs, and special events.  Additional responsibilities include documentation, budgeting, developing adult programs for the four seasonal brochures, networking, driving agency vehicles, maintaining all of the Special Olympic paperwork and other duties as assigned.  Prior experience in adult/child programming is desirable.  CTRS certification is strongly preferred.  Ability to work and communicate with individuals with disabilities, co-workers, parents, teachers, and community personnel is essential.  Lifeguard Certification, CPR & First Aid Certification, and NCI are all required within six months of employment.  M-NASR is an equal opportunity employer.
