Recreation Therapy opportunity at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana. Bradford Woods is Indiana University’s Outdoor Center (housed within the Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies Department) and supported by the Riley Children’s Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
Bradford Woods operates 10 weeks of Recreation Therapy summer camps for people with cancer, sickle cell anemia, cerebral palsy, cranial facial anomalies, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, autism, various physical disabilities, rare genetic disorders, and Down syndrome.
We hire a staff of 80+ individuals and we only have a few spots left for this upcoming summer! Bradford Woods has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students in the field of Therapeutic Recreation because of therapeutic mind set and practices in all we do. All of our internship positions to meet NCTRC requirements have been filled for this summer but we are still accepting practicum and mini-internship students. We have 5 CTRS’s on staff and we welcome the opportunity to examine this type of partnership with the professors and students.
TR/RT students are encouraged to apply for various positions for the summer of 2017 at Bradford Woods including Adventure Challenge Program Staff, Equine Therapy Staff, Lifeguards, Cabin Heads and Cabin Staff.
Because of the strong Recreation Therapy mindset at Bradford Woods, it is my hope to fill most of our Recreation Therapy summer camp positions with people who see the need and importance of therapeutic activities and adaptive recreation. This is not only an opportunity to grow individually, but it will also help each student develop their own Recreation Therapy philosophy and style as they work with numerous populations of campers in a high energy camp setting.
Attached is our summer camp recruitment flyer as well as a link to our recruitment video (found below).
