Greetings!
The New Professionals Committee (NPC) within the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) invites college students interested in the field of Therapeutic Recreation (TR) to shadow a New Professional for a one-day job shadowing experience at their local Special Recreation Association. The job shadowing opportunity can be arranged with the NPC member from the Special Recreation Association that the student chooses to visit. There will be a brief company overview, which will include an outline of the agency internship program and description of entry-level positions. Students will gain exposure to what a "day-in the-life" is like for a new professional that has been in the field for less than 5 years. Participants will get to observe a TR program, meetings, lesson planning and more.
I have contacted you in hopes that you will help me spread the word about this opportunity. I would love to have other students learn about Therapeutic Recreation and bring more awareness to the field.
