DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION: Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA), located in Aurora, Illinois, was formed 39 years ago to provide a diverse range of year round recreational activities to enable residents with disabilities to experience active, healthy and playful lifestyles. FVSRA is seeking applicants who are driven, motivated and demonstrate initiative. The ideal applicant is someone who is able to multi-task, is flexible, and organized. FVSRA will invest in the right person for the job who is a leader, a team player, and takes ownership and pride in their work.

The Support Staff Manager will recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate part time recreation employees (Program Leaders and Assistants) and volunteers for general therapeutic recreation programs, Special Olympics, special events and foundation events. The Manager will supervise the full time Athletics Coordinator position who oversees Special Olympics, Adapted Sports and Fitness programs. The Manager will oversee Individual Swim lessons and assist with the seasonal brochure production for Individual Lessons.

In addition to the administrative duties, the Manager will lead up to 5-8 programs in each season. Typical work weeks hours are M-F 8:30-5pm; however nights and weekends will be required for programs, trainings, presentations or meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with a Therapeutic emphasis and practical experience in therapeutic recreation programming from an accredited college or university; Current NCTRC Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment; Minimum of four years full time experience planning and conducting recreation programs for people with disabilities; Must have experience in the supervision of seasonal employees, recruitment, training, and the evaluation of employees.
