JOB OPENING
Position: After School Program Counselor
Salary: $9-$10/hr
General Description:
Plans, organizes and conducts a variety of group activities for assigned group. The counselor is directly responsible for the safety and welfare of the participants at our Before and After School Program. Primary emphasis should be on safety, fun and individual growth through well-rounded and diversified recreation opportunities. The BASP Counselor is directly responsible to the Site Director and Recreation Program Manager.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Experience working with elementary aged children
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Must have Valid Illinois Drivers License with excellent driving record
- Available Monday through Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm (after school)
- Available January 9th – May 25th
Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in staff orientation and training
- Plan a variety of daily group activities which involves such program areas as games, sports, nature, crafts, music, creative dramatics, etc
- Assist Site Director in planning, organizing and implementing special programs
- Supervise and participate in group activities
- Be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of all participants at all times
- Attend and participate in staff meetings when necessary
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- Administer first aid when necessary
- Ensure proper use of supplies and equipment during activities
- Follow program procedures and policies at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- The ability to lead and participate in children’s activities and sports both indoors and outdoors
