My name is Ashley Hilmer and I am the Coordinator of Development at Extra Special People (ESP). Based just outside of Athens, GA, ESP creates opportunities for people with disabilities and their families to engage, connect and thrive. Each year we serve more than 300 individuals of all abilities through summer camp, after school programs, and family support, and I am excited to share an opportunity to serve with us as AmeriCorps members.

ESP is now an approved AmeriCorps State Program site! We are in search of five, passionate, dedicated individuals who will commit to one full year of full-time service. AmeriCorps members commit to serving 1,700 hours in exchange for a monthly living allowance, an education award of $5,815 (equivalence of Pell Grant), professional development experience, and free housing at our camp property, Camp Hooray.

We are offering positions in two different roles: Java Joy Program Leaders and Family Experience Leaders. Strong candidates will have prior experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or recreational program experience, such as after-school programs or summer camps. Post-secondary education in related fields (i.e. Special Education, Public Administration, Social Work, & Human Development and Family Sciences) is preferred.

The full program description, position descriptions, and details on how to apply are attached! Feel free to send an email to , or visit our website at
